thanks. What are good restaurants in houston for a sweet 16?
The Cheesecake Factory in the Galleria is really cool. They have awesome desserts.

Also, I forgot to add earlier: My two favorite restaurants in town are Ouisie's in River Oaks and The Olivette at the Houstonian. At Ouisie's my steak was impeccably done, and I was really impressed with the quality of their more affordable wines. At the Olivette we went on a weekday, and since it was slow the chef added a complimentary course to our dinner. They really take care of people there. The food at both places is absolutely supreme.

Sam Buca downtown is an interesting spot. They play very entertaining jazz music. I used to play bass, and my old instructor (from the Houston symphony) used to play there on Sunday nights so we would always go down there, and leave full of things to talk about. If you like music, that's the place.

If you like Mexican, my vote would go toward Guadalajara Hacienda on I-10.

One last thing, my best friend is a member of River Oaks country club, and if you ever get a chance, go there. We used to eat on the back balcony that overlooks the course, and I didn't know we had scenery like that in Houston!

And then there's always the downtown aquarium but I was trying not to be cliche.

I didn't know what kind of budget you were on, but all those places run about $50/person, with the exception of the Cheesecake Factory and Guadalajara, but are well worth it. They are quality, worthwhile alternatives to money pits like the Palm, Capital Grille, and Brenner's. I've been a lot of places in this country, and Houston is one of the absolute best when it comes to food.
The Melting Pot has a special going on right now. Two for $81, $85, or $89 with the Lobster Fest being the $89.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse has two for $89, also for a limited during the summer.

Carmelo's on Memorial at Diary-Ashford has wonderful Italian food in a romantic setting.

Las Alamedas has upscale Mexican food in a beautiful setting.

The Rainbow Lodge is always spectacular.

Perry's Steakhouse also has a summer special running right now.

Grand Lux is good, but it might be crowded if going on a weekend.

Mia Bella off of Sheperd is nice for parties. They have a little room in back that you can reserve for no extra charge. Even if you can't get in that room, they have a little area in front of the bar that isn't right in the middle of everyone else.

There is also a Mexican restaurant on Richmond called El Tiempo that has a nice outdoor patio for parties.
My daughter will be turning 15 next month and we are thinking of taking her to The Cheese Cake Factory over by the Galleria...not sure if you've ever been. Also Bennihana's (Japanese) is a nice place to take your friends to and family (seat up to 10 people). They have great entertainment w/the chef cooking in front of you and the food is always good.
My favorite restaurant is actually Bennigans, because it is so easy to sit back with my best girlfriends and have fun. their fries and Monte Cristo sandwich are great!!
