The only time I see people watching TV in a restaurant is when the restaurant is a sports bar, and they've had TVs for decades. What I'm curious about is why regular restaurants are putting TVs in their dining rooms. They usually turn the sound off and nobody really watches them. What's the deal? Why are all restaurants installing televisions in their dining rooms?
Well when you are waiting and waiting really long some people end up leaving unless they have entertainment. In other words, the restaurants are installing televisions so they dont loose money on customers who want their food faster than they can serve it too them or get them a table.
For anyone who likes to watch sports while they eat and they keep volume down because some customers who don't watch sports may complain that it distracts them while they prefer a nice quiet social dinner with their family and friends. Why are all restaurants installing televisions in their dining rooms?
To distract you from how crappy the food is and how slow the service.
Aside from the sports bar / restaurant theory, I would think to keep the customers entertained while they are waiting for their food to be served. And, if the customers are "drinking" I would think that might increase the alcohol sales (if you're not paying attention you might drink more). Those are the only things I can think of.
Good question by the way!!
