How to order vegetarian cheese at restaurants?

Is there a list of restaurants that serve cheese without animal rennet? I know I should probably ask but is there a link that has a list of restaurants that use microbial rennet instead? How to order vegetarian cheese at restaurants?
Nope, but here's a list of vegetarian brands. You'd need to ask the restaurant who makes their cheese. http://cheese.joyousliving.com/CheeseLis鈥?/a>
Unfortunately, most restaurants do not specifically list where their cheeses come from. The only way to know for sure would be to call the restaurant ahead of time or the company's number ahead of time.

A lot of organic cheeses are vegetarian, though, and Boar's Head has vegetarian american, swiss, and cheddar cheeses.

Stay away from Kraft cheeses. They use animal rennet in those.

To Itison: Kraft still uses animal enzymes in their cheeses in the United States. Their only vegetarian cheese in the U.S. is their Domestic Swiss.

why is it ok to eat the cows milk%26lt;cheese but not the rennet i mean i know cheese isnt flesh but really what is the diff? cows arnt slaughtered *specifically* for their rennet and im sure dairy cows arnt thrilled with their living conditions.
Call ahead.

And one guy said Kraft cheeses have rennet. I don't think this is the case anymore, or at the very least, I know that in Canada the Kraft parmesan does not. I'm pretty sure it used to, but I've checked the ingredients lately and it now contains microbial enzyme instead. Other Kraft cheeses may be the same, I'm not sure.
Kinda funny that you care about the rennet that comes from the stomach of a slaughtered calf, but still support the dairy industry, which directly fuels animal cruelty and the veal industry.

Ditch the cheese.
