Check with your local health inspector, because it varies state to state. I have a degree in Biology, and I'm a health inspector. Most states will provide any additional on the job training. It wouldn't hurt for you to have put yourself through a ServSafe course, though, I didn't, and went through the course on the job. Just having that certification would make your resume better.



Just a side note...I don't know of any states where the health inspector only inspects restaurants. Usually swimming pools, septic tanks, and general sanitation inspections are involved too. Good luck! It's a fun %26amp; interesting job!!
