I took my son on a trip when he was 4 and came to the realization that at that age kids are not interested in attractions like we as adults would find interesting and appreciate. After pushing him to see the attractions and go from place to place I realized that what made him most happy was to play in the water foundain. We let him do that for hours and he had a wonderful time laughing and getting wet.

In Hawaii for instance, the Polynesian Cultural Center is a very interesting place to learn about the island culture. Kids don't care about that. Climbing Diamond Head may be adventurous and beautiful at the top but a 4 year old won't have the endurance. Pearl Harbor is moving and beautiful in a solemn kind of way, a 4 year old will only be interested in playing in the water. Even spectular scenery will be lost on him.

The most enjoyable thing for a 4 year old in Waikiki is to play in the sand and splash in the water. In my humble opinion dragging him around the island to all the other things that interest adults will not only be unfair to him but may make your vacation very stressful, and who needs that.
Atrantis submarine from Hilton Hawaiian village. Dive into the ocean with submarine, and you can see all kinds of great sea creatures; if you are lucky enough, small sharks and sea turtles swim by your submarine. The prices for the tickets are not that bad, actually. It runs from $27.00 a piece. Also, 1100 dive is operated in Japanese language, so, if you don't speak or understand Japanese, you need to chose different hours.

You can try "honolulu zoo" at the end of Waikiki towards to diamond head. Entrance fees are cheap. $6.00 each and kids under 5 is free. There is petting zoo inside Honolulu zoo, and you can touch baby goats. They are cute. You can't feed them, though.

I have couple friends who have 6 years old son, and they said thier 6-year-old enjoyed eating at Japanese resturant called "Tanaka of Tokyo". It is Japanese resturant, but, the food they provide isn't really Japanese, they have steaks, chickens, sea food, etc. And, the cheifs are cooking right in front of you! Some of them are very talented and entertaining, they said.

I don't know anything about Golf. I don't play golf. Sorry.
