I work at a corporate chain restaurant and we have to tipout 4% of our net sales. Basically we pay the salary of the host and busser. I once heard someone say there is a maximum that restaurants can make you tipout, but want to confirm it. It's ridiculous that even if we get poor tips we still have to give that 4% of the sale.Is there a legal maximum tipout percentage that restaurants can enforce in NJ?
There is no law in NJ concerning tips.
