The dip is a thick red sauce and it is very sweet, there aren't any onions etc mixed with it, it's just a plain thick red sweet dip. I have had this dip in a few Indian restaurants in London near where I live and want to know the name of it! Any help? Thank you. What is the name of a red sweet dip served with poppadoms in Indian restaurants?
Once again, tamarind sauce. It's very easy to make. Buy some tamarind seeds, it's usually vacuum packed like dates. Get the seedless if you can. Add an equal amount of palm sugar (jaggery) and a pinch of garam masala. Bring to a boil until the tamarind is soft. Puree and strain, done.
The only thick sweet dip I can think of from Indian cuisine would be tamarind sauce. I guess it could be reddish, I usually see it more brown in color. What is the name of a red sweet dip served with poppadoms in Indian restaurants?
