Can we request to see a Restaurants kitchen before we choose to eat there?

I eat out a lot but after watching many shows like Gordon Ramsay, it makes me double think where i decide to eat out.



Many restaurants featured of this show are not hygiencally clean. One restaurant has mice droppings and cockroaches.



Are we allowed to see the kitchen of a restaurant if we ask (legally), or can they refuse to show us?

I would like to know that my food is being prepared in a clean kitchen, not a waste dump, so thought id just ask.Can we request to see a Restaurants kitchen before we choose to eat there?
You are allowed to ask to see the kitchen however there is no law stating they must show it to you. Depending on how the restaurant is set up and the state's health laws you may not even be allowed back there without.a food handlers permit.

i no what you mean you do some times wonder but i guess you could as its not exactly a massive crime to just ask .... its worth a try :)

I really don't care so much the about mice doodoo or cockroaches as much as the fact that most of these restaurants don't even cook you fresh food. It's all frozen crap and it's not even cooked right half the time. I thank god that I can cook well and not have to eat crap from locals that just don't care anymore. Please if you're going to own a restaurant, buy from a local fresh supply and never use a microwave for anything other than to heat liquids. If customers actually saw what they were consuming and where it came from im pretty sure they would never eat out again. I don't believe looking at their kitchen will help much as most look like a mess but still put out descent fresh food. What you need to do is go down into their freezers and check dates and temps. If they wont let you in anywhere then they are most likely trying to hide something as this should not be a problem at all for any restraunt at any given time.
