What are your personal customs of tipping in restaurants?

I usually tip the customary 15% at semi-gourmet restaurants like Applebee's, Chili's, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse and 10% for pick up.

However, do you tip for pick-up orders at Chinese restaurants or Pizza Hut? How about at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or Sonic? What are your personal customs of tipping in restaurants?
10% depending on the service. if i have crappy service where i have to ask for more napkins when eating ribs or cant find them half the time they mess up all the orders at the table needless to say your not getting a big tip.
Tips usually average between 10 and 20 percent of guests鈥?checks for sit down or take out. Many people who come in and pick-up their meals don't see all the work the waiter or waitress is doing to get the order prepared and packaged and ready to be taken home. They do just as much work to make sure your order is correct this way you don't go home dissatisfied. Because if you were at the restaurant and weren't happy with something they would be able to go back to the kitchen and correct it accordingly. With a take home meal it HAS to be perfect the first time. The only thing they don't do for you is refill your glass at the dinner table. =)

Chinese restaurants have that "Karma" pickle jar out which is nice to tip too. If your a loyal customer to there store and they pretty much remember what you order every time and have it ready quickly. Tipping them your extra change doesn't hurt. Round up the bill to an even number if your order is $8.56 make it a flat $10.

Fast Food (i.e. McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Sonic or Local Ice Cream Shop)

The workers often get paid minimum wage and we all know how hard that is to live off of, but there isn't really any way to tip them, No jars or lines to add a tip. Often if I make a quick run threw drive threw I will tell the person at the window to go ahead and keep the extra .56 cents change or what ever happens to be left over if its not to much.

No one should feel obligated to tip, but when tipping you should keep in mind this is how they make there living, Serving you. You control how much the server makes. So tip accordingly, but also remember to tip fairly.

What are your personal customs of tipping in restaurants?
I tip 20% AT LEAST at actual sit down restaurants. Unless the server ignores you, that is what you should do. They make less than $3 an hour, and they have to pay taxes on at least 15% of sales, whether they get 15% tips or not.

For Sonic, Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, I don't tip at all. They make at least minumum wage or above and they don't refill my drinks or do anything extra. For pick up orders at a Chinese place or Pizza Hut, it is unnecessary to tip, but it is a nice gesture, but only after you check to see if the order is correct!
I always tip at least 20%. That includes pick-up orders. A server's hourly salary in places where they're allowed to accept tips is less than $3. So if you don't tip, they're working very hard for below minimal pay.
Your doing o.k.
