This is what I need to fax before going to the eat :
DINERS’ BILL OF RIGHTS
I promise to show up at the restaurant promptly at the time of my reservation, to dress impeccably, to use proper table manners, to talk softly and to pay my bill. I will also use appropriate dining customs. This means, among other things, that I will not order “blush” wine, will not eat from my companion’s plate, or ask to take the leftovers home (ill-mannered, shocking and the most boorish thing which Americans commonly do in restaurants). In return, I ask that the staff of the restaurant also behave properly. This means that:
a)No one will tell me my waiter’s first name. This is never done in sophisticated countries. It is too familiar and smacks of hyped phony friendliness and the hard sell techniques taught by Amway and Tupperware.US restaurants = Impossible to have a good service?
Mamadou D I think if I was working a First Class, 5 star, top Noch resteraunt I would say your asking too much out the people that work there. Yes, you are asking way too much out people to do that, an go all out for the people. As long as people are treated nice, the waiter will be tip good, unless its already added to the bill, the gratitude part. If service is good, the food taste great people will keep on returning back for wanted more of it. Josh from FL
Why would an "educated" person move from a "civilized" country to "this one", then try to change it to the country they just left??? Seems silly. Seems to me you can A.) move back home B.) Stop dining @ TGI Fridays C.) Get a job that affords you the opportunity to eat in the manner which you think you are accustomed to or D.) Relax, get a little nookie, %26amp; try to have some fun. (Please feel free to discard the "nookie bill of rights" as I fear you may own something to that effect as well)US restaurants = Impossible to have a good service?
If this is what you fax to the restaurant of your choice, it's no wonder you get bad service!! Who could hope to live up to (or want to for that matter) your oppressively ridgid standards! Stay home and starve or move to Europe!
You need to lighten up. I agree with some of what you say, but America is not as rigid as other countries, and I for one enjoy the casual dining America offers as opposed to dining in a stiff uptight place where people judge you for stupid things like using the wrong fork. I like to enjoy my food, not bow to it. If you don't like American restaurants, stay home and cook. Just make sure you use the proper pots!
How many times are you going to post this cockamamie garbage in the guise of seemingly different questions?!?! You are a rude, pretentious snob who must be quite unhappy in his life to be so picky and demanding. Stay at home, you conceited ****.
Try out Alain Ducasse in New York, and stop going to places like applebees.
While some of what you say is true, you need to realize that in America, some of the customs are different. Like I find it incredibly entertaining that you say "in civilized countries coffee after dinner means espresso, never weak American-style coffee"...ummm...hello...you ARE in America. Deal with it. You sound like you need to relax and have a glass of properly chilled wine (or three). And I agree with the other poster that said if you don't like it, stay home and cook.
