What restaurants are best for gluten and dairy free diets?

I have a friend who cannot eat foods that contain gluten or dairy, and I want to take her out to a nice restaurant. Which restaurants have good options for those under these restrictions? What restaurants are best for gluten and dairy free diets?
You're probably going to have to discuss it with her. A bad experience can turn someone off to a restaurant even if they have a gluten free / dairy free menu.

The GF Registry is great as a starting point (as it only lists GF, you'll need to contact the restaurant specifically for DF). Steakhouses might be ok, however, high-end steakhouses tend to butter their grills which will contaminate the steak cooked on it.
Where abouts is it that you live?

As the previous poster suggested, there are generally some food stuffs that a coeliac can eat. However, you might find that there is a restaurant near you that is particularly good for gluten free food. Our site has reviews from throughout the world but if you are US based I would suggest using GF Registry as well. What restaurants are best for gluten and dairy free diets?
Take her to a steak house. She can order meat or fish, not rolls nor any salad with cheese. Or, ask her mother.
