What do you think about restaurants where the employees don't always wash their hands?

There are restaurants in the Raleigh area that have lots of sanitation violations. Every Friday, WRAL news covers restaurant rating reports and there are many places that have employees who do not always wash their hands. How would you feel if you knew about this at your favorite restaurant?What do you think about restaurants where the employees don't always wash their hands?
I think it is disgusting. Cross contamination is so easily prevented by washing your hands and keeping a clean work station. Management is the first to blame for not enforcing correct procedures! Food Handling 101- wash your hands very often. When I am working Back Of House (BOH) in the restaurant, I keep a sanitizer bottle close by with a towel to wash my hands on. Laziness and not being taught proper handling is the culprit behind these violations, in my opinion.

I try not to think about it at all.



I rarely eat out for the very reasons you state.
I'm grossed out by them too.

Most of the restaurants mentioned in the ratings reports are chinese restaurants or mexican restaurants.

I would get mad and go and fight the person who did not wash their hands and don't go back for a while
well if they do not wash hands i would not go back there ever

if you see it you can contact your local health department and complain about it

most health and restaurant sickness comes from food handlers going to bathroom and not washing hands (fact not my opinion)

and you might find it interesting that over 100,000 people a year get sick from eating in a restaurant and 10,000 people die a year from restaurant (this was told to me when i went to board of health school)

most do not realize it is from a restaurant because it takes about 1-2 weeks for the bacteria that was ingested to fully grow

and after a week or 2 people just think it is the flu
Maybe that explains why so many people up there in the Triangle are getting the Flu.

In Australia we have a government website that names and shames these restaurants and food prep cafes and companies when they get warnings for unsafe or unclean offences.
