I want to prepare bread and dip like served in Italian restaurants like Macaroni Grill. It's the kind where you have sliced bread and dip it into a oil mix consisting of olive oil and a blend of spices; I've seen the oil mixes in the store, but there are several different variety's available. Can you tell me what it's called? Please and thank-you!
~JessWhat kind of olive oil and spice mixes do restaurants like Macaroni Grill use to dip bread in?
I use Carapelli's Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil for the oil. As far as the spices go I mince some garlic, wrap in in foil, and roast in oven for about 10 minutes and add that to the oil (on a small plate/bowl) as well as some, onion powder, some basil, some parm. cheese. You can add any spice you like.

How do you explain the success of fast food restaurants all over the world?
And do you enjoy going to fast food restaurants? why or why not?How do you explain the success of fast food restaurants all over the world?
It's fast food maybe that a clue? any place that can produce a sandwich in 5 minutes is pretty fast!
Dr. David Kessler, former head of the US FDA, explains food addictions in a recent book. Fast food restaurants focus on highly addictive food by manipulating sugars, fats, and salt. Taste trumps health.
KFC uses MSG (a neurotoxin) in virtually every food product they offer. The diet drinks contain aspartame, another neurotoxin and carcenogenic substance.
Fast food restaurants optimize based on taste, low cost, consistency, and shelf life. Health comes into the equation only when it can be spun as a marketing tool. Subway really is not that much more healthy. How do you explain the success of fast food restaurants all over the world?
The success of the fast food industry is due to the fact that they have powerful lobbyists in Washingtion.
The government subsidizes the price of meat by 70%.
So, because of this a big mac cost less than a salad.
And the fast food industry makes a huge profit.
Here is a diagram that explains the problem.
http://www.pcrm.org/magazine/gm07autumn/鈥?/a>
And because the industry is so huge (30% of the world's ice-free land is involved in livestock production) it is killing our environment. The livestock industry produces more greenhouse gasses than all the transportation in the world (cars, boats, trains, planes). In the U.S. livestock is the #1 polluter of fresh waterways (rivers, lakes). Etc.

Unfortunately, some of it is extremely delish. I only go to fast food resturaunts once a month to keep my model type figure, and it's yummy. Yes I do enjoy it because I feel free when i eat delish and cheap food. Thank you for putting this question out into the world.
The world has become so fast-paced, we need convenience. Fast-food is convenience food.
The McDonalds at the Millennium Dome in London was making an average of 拢20000 a day. Scary stuff.
Per calorie it is some of the cheapest food in the world. What would you rather eat, a big mac or fried grubs?
It's cheap and convenient and most of the time it tastes pretty good.
Delicious and quick.

How to make raita taste as fresh as the restaurants?
If I buy yogurt and try to make raita it never tastes as fresh or un-sour as it does in the restaurants... How do I get that un-sour flavor they always have? It doesn't matter which recipe I follow, the yogurt still has that tang that I don't like... Any suggestions? How to make raita taste as fresh as the restaurants?
Bascially, traditional raita is made with fresh made yoghurt, which is sweeter. Making yoghurt at home is easy and I am sure you can find plenty of online recipes. But there is one other option:
The US and even some in India restaurants will usually add a small amount of sugar to the raita (during the whisking process) to take away some of the tang. You do need to whisk the yoghurt and add in your salt, spices, water and sugar and blending well before mixing in any veggies/fruits. And you can keep it chilled by adding a few ice cubes like they do in India, but this can make it a little bit runny.
Additionally important is hand-chopping the fruits and vegetables with a sharp knife, as opposed to using a food processor.
One final suggestion: instead of ground cumin, use freshly roasted and ground cumin seeds: this tastes much better and fresher too.

How long do ketchup packets last from fast food restaurants? Do they have an experation date? How long do ketchup packets last from fast food restaurants?
10 years but the taste is bad
They will last many years. Ketchup is non-perishable and since it was sterile when put into that sealed container - nothing can get in to contaminate it.
It would take many years for it to start to taste off - since most of the flavor is just vinegar and salt.
No - they do not have an expiration date. How long do ketchup packets last from fast food restaurants?
several years, but make sure it is not damaged, and remember tomato has acid and it will eventually eat through anything except glass

What is that spicy green sauce that you always find in mexican restaurants?
I go to 2 different authentic mexican restaurants that aren't fast food like taco bell but aren't fancy sit down restaurants either. They both offer the option of getting little cups of hot sauce that are either red or green. I love the green stuff but I'm just not sure what it is.What is that spicy green sauce that you always find in mexican restaurants?
it is salsa verde...
It's called salsa verde (green sauce) and is very simple to make. For fresh sauce use 5 - 6 tomates verdes also known as tomatillos in the USA, 1 slice of onion, 1 - 6 serrano peppers (depending on how hot you like your sauce) and 1 sprig of cilantro (optional). 1 oz water Liquefy all ingredients in blender. if it seems too thick add a little more water - the tomatillos are actually a thickening agent. Add a pinch of salt.
For cooked salsa place tomatillos, onion and serrano(s) in one quart of boiling water until the color of the tomatillos becomes more olive green. Add cilantro at end of boil (optional). Liquefy vegetables in blender with 1-2 oz. of water from boil. Add a pinch of salt. Enjoy!
Edit: oops I forgot! Another variation is to make the first recipe above, add juice of one lime and one medium avocado. Mash the avocado to a pulp and mix with the salsa. This is NOT to be confused with guacamole in which avocado is the main ingredient. What is that spicy green sauce that you always find in mexican restaurants?
Salsa Verde. Normally made with tomatillos, green chili and perhaps minced onion and a little garlic. Sometimes cumin. All depends upon where you go and what their recipe is. Its easy to make.

Where do small restaurants get their food from?
I've eaten in many small mom %26amp; pop type of restaurants and the food at each place each has a distinctive taste. Some of the places I've been to don't make their food homemade, but it tastes great. How do these places get their ingredients or prepared food? Do they come up with their own recipe and then have it mass produced by a manufacturer? Or are there companies out there that actually create custom foods for each specific restaurant? If I wanted to start a restaurant, where would I even start to find a food supplier for my restaurant? I've always been curious about this and I appreciate the responses. Where do small restaurants get their food from?
There are numerous food supply companies that DO supply a lot of already made, pre-packaged foods to small restaurants. Many restaurants just don't have the time to make everything. I used to own a bakery cafe, and we got our soups from SYSCO Corporation. They were fabulous. They came in frozen packages, and all we did was put them in our soup pots and heat them up. Customers raved about them.
You can "google" food suppliers in any search engine, and find SYSCO, Thurston Foods, U.S. Food Service, and a host of other food suppliers in your area. Most of them require that you buy in large quantities, so be prepared to have a few freezers and refrigerators to hold the minimum quantities that you'd have to purchase.Where do small restaurants get their food from?
I have recently opened a coffee shop and worried about the same thing,
And wondered where the Coffee shops I enjoyed eating from got there food? So I cheekily called and asked to speak to the manager, I told him how wonderful his food was, And as I wasn't opening my shop near them I was no direct competition, They were happy to help!

How is the ground beef seasoned in authentic Mexican restaurants?
I've eaten in several authenic Mexican restaurants across the U.S. and the ground beef is generally seasoned the same from place to place. Does anyone have the recipe to share? How is the ground beef seasoned in authentic Mexican restaurants?
Ground beef is not at all common in authentic Mexican cooking. When ground beef is used in Mexican cooking it is usually seasoned with onion and/or garlic, worcestershire sauce and salt. This would be in the case of meatballs or picadillo.
Authentic restaurants don't use ground beef, they use chopped beef which is usually seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper and maybe a little chili. Very simple so that you can still taste the tortilla. How is the ground beef seasoned in authentic Mexican restaurants?
You are probably tasting paprika, cumin, %26amp; cayenne pepper in the beef

Why are the siu mai wrappers in dim sum restaurants yellow, but the ones in the stores are white?
Also, the texture of the ones in the restaurants is much softer. The only wrappers i can find in the chinese stores are white and tend to dry out a bit when they're steamed. Does anyone know where I can find the yellow ones? I live in Toronto. Why are the siu mai wrappers in dim sum restaurants yellow, but the ones in the stores are white?
It is likely that egg yolks are added to the siu mai wrappers in the dim sum resturants.
The same applies to wanton skins.
It wont make any different unless u are bothered by the color and there is a slight different in taste. I personally find the white skins more platable.
Try steaming in lower fire and with a lid on.
With yellow wrapper is usually egg is added when they make the wrapper.
The white one is without egg.
People in southern china usually use egg in their dumpling wrappers and are usually thinner.
People in Northern China usually use the white wrapper. Why are the siu mai wrappers in dim sum restaurants yellow, but the ones in the stores are white?
yellow wrappers means it's made of wheat flour and eggs, white wrapper is rice flour.
r3i_unit00 is right; there are both type wrappers here in China and i do order both types yolk-yellow siu mai and rice-white har gao (prawn) - both are just as good!
Ohmy, those in the restaurants are quite tasty :D
i've seen yellow wrappers before; you have to really look for them. they aren't very common, but they do exist. next time, why not just make your own wrappers? :)i'm no genius, but hopefully this will help and teeny weeny bit.
Dim sum Siu mai wrappers are same as the one they use for Cantonese wonton(the kind have shrimps in them). The white round wrappers are for Shanghai wonton %26amp; potstickers. Some brand are yellow than the others, basically they make them more yellow with coloring.
In Chinese resturant they order the wrappers directly from their noodle supplier, uaually they can make the wrappers more yellowish so the siu mai will look less like wonton and also look more attactive.
yellow ones are made with egg, white ones are made with ground rice powder, the choice is yours but with both you should treat them as you do for frozen pastry - keep covered with a wet cloth to prevent them drying out,
Go into your Chinatown to one of their supermarkets and ask for the wrappers you want

What kind of shrimp do they use at hibachi restaurants?
I typically hate shrimp but I LOVE the shrimp they use in hibachi restaurants. What kind of shrimp do they use and does anyone have the recipe so I can make it at home? What kind of shrimp do they use at hibachi restaurants?
there's nothing special about the shrimp that they use. it's normally good size (large or jumbo) and it's raw, so it doesn't get overcooked and rubbery. and every time I've gone to the hibachi grill (3 different restaurants, multiple occasions) the shrimp is already peeled. the tail left on, and they cook them in a teriyaki sauce. I like or local hibachi grill's teriyaki sauce. It tastes like it has some pineapple in it. You can make a good teriyaki sauce by starting with bottled teriyaki sauce. I add a little honey, pineapple juice, a clove of fresh minced garlic, and sometimes green onions and sesame seeds. Then saute your shrimp, add the sauce during the last minute of cooking, toss, and serve. Also good with tender cuts of beef, sliced pork, or cubed chicken.

What other restaurants deliver other than pizza and Chinese places?
When I got to my friend's house we order out and we always get pizza or Chinese but I want to try something different. Which restaurants deliver? Does Starbucks deliver (sometimes we need starbucks but are too lazy to drive.)What other restaurants deliver other than pizza and Chinese places?
There are actually some places where you can call your local cabbie to pick up what you need and bring it to you. Tends to get a bit spendy though. Other towns have delivery companies that specialize in food delivery even from restaurants that don't deliver but have pick-up. I know in Denver I used to use a company like this quite often to get Indian food when I didn't feel like going out.
And nope I have never seen a Starbucks that delivers. That would be a nightmare for them.
sub shops like Jimmy Johns. What other restaurants deliver other than pizza and Chinese places?
Check out Meal Monger at http://www.mealmonger.com/ They are a national franchise of food delivery businesses. They set up shop in a city and then contract with as many restaurants they can to deliver their food.
All of the menus are on their site, and they deliver in about an hour. There is a delivery charge which varies from area to area - and they do not have businesses in all cities.
But go to that site and put in your zip code and it will tell you if they deliver to you or not.
Good luck.
Some spanish and soul food restaurants deliver.
Other restaurants do. In college we had a bunch of mexican restaurants deliver. if you live near a college campus, try www.campusfood.com .

Is there a different tipping etiquette for staying in restaurants for a long time?
I like to go to restaurants to study. I wouldn't consider myself a burdensome client because I'm just quietly reading notes and what-not. I generally leave about a 25-35% tip, but you'd also have to consider that my total check is generally less than $15, that I'm there for at least four hours and that the waiter keeps coming by to refill my drink.
What would be good tipping etiquette in cases like these? Is there a different tipping etiquette for staying in restaurants for a long time?
Etiquette would be to first decide whether or not you're putting someone out.
If the restaurant is full, then it would not be polite or good etiquette to occupy a table. A full restaurant means that the restaurant / server should be able to fill your table and get paid.
If the restaurant's not full, you probably aren't causing that much harm. Additional tip is always nice in this case. Perhaps you should consider a 20% tip on your order, and then an additional $.50 per refill?
Here's the gist of the thing-- it seems that you're empathetic enough to discern whether or not you're being a burden, and also to tip appropriately. That's 90% of the etiquette battle right there.
To begin with, it's poor etiquette to occupy a table long after your meal.
Not only do you have to consider guests that may be on a waiting list, but the waiter is actually losing money because you are occupying a table for 4 hours at a time. Within those four hours the restaurant and your waiter could have served 3-5 more parties on your table. You might have tipped generously based on the cost of your meal, but that doesn't make up for the 3-5 tables he/she missed out on during your stay.
Consider studying at other eating establishments that don't employ wait staff. Is there a different tipping etiquette for staying in restaurants for a long time?
I think I'd go with the regular guide of around 20% when paying the bill-obviously more or less depending on the service so far. Sometime during the meal I'd tell the waiter you'd like to stay and study...maybe even asking if that resturaunt is ok with that. If it's ok and the waiter keeps checking on you for refills or whatever else, I'd pay any remaining tab I might rack up and tip something appropriate for his/her time checking back on you. Maybe use how much work they did for you during the meal as a guide or maybe do the math on a per visit kind of thing. Use common sense and think how you'd like to be tipped for similar work.
I would not think it OK to hang in a restaurant for 4 hours to study, especially if they have wait service. Even if the restaurant is empty you are still burdening the staff by having to constantly inquire if you need anything. If the restaurant is busy then you are being selfish of the other customers, the restaurant and the wait staff.
Can you find another place to study (like a bookstore, library)?
typically you would want to tip a little more if the restaurant is full because that would make up for a table the waiter would have otherwise had- also, all that free soda they bring you.
that would depend on the restaurant. and whether they're full or not.
because restaurants would obviously prefer costumers who order more expensive stuff..
I've been a server for over 20 years and it is rough on the wait staff when you have campers at your tables, especially when you only get a paltry tip after taking care to make sure your drinks stay full and then clean up the usual mess these campers leave. My friends and I used to camp at Denny's and we based our tip to the server (especially when we were taken good care of) on what it would have cost to tip for a meal, per hour. For example, a meal would cost $7, but maybe we only had coffee or soda, each one of us would put in a dollar. Now if we stayed longer and the place was busy, we would add another dollar, per hour. So, our group of say, four people, would leave between 5 and 15 dollars. It is not only being respectful and polite, it also made the servers most of the time, happy to have us there. Oh and please, try to pre clean your table, by stacking plates and cleaning up major messes. Remember, these people are servers, not maids or your momma. If you like to leave a huge mess, pluck out a couple more dollars to pay for the cleaning service.

Do restaurants keep record of exactly what you ordered on their system or is it just the amount?
Do restaurants keep record of exactly what you ordered on their system or is it just the amount?
I was in a restaurant 3 weeks ago and I received the bill today. I signed for it at the time, but now that I look at the amount, it looks much too high. It matches up with my receipt. I am wondering if most restaurants keep just the amount that was purchased in their system, or do they also keep what exactly what was ordered?Do restaurants keep record of exactly what you ordered on their system or is it just the amount?
It depends what Point of Sale software the restaurant uses. If the food and beverages you purchased are not listed on your receipt, then i highly doubt that information would be stored on their computer.Do restaurants keep record of exactly what you ordered on their system or is it just the amount?

In your opinion is it acceptable to have staff of different origins/ethnicities in Ethnic restaurants?
Hi all,
For instance, white waiters in Vietnamese restaurants?
First of all, I am far from racist. I think this is a traditional matter. By having staff of other ethnicities it may send the wrong message that the restaurant is not traditional.
I've also seen Mexican cooks at Indian restaurants. I guess if the food tastes just as good I do not see a problem with it.
I am curious to get your opinion on this.
ThanksIn your opinion is it acceptable to have staff of different origins/ethnicities in Ethnic restaurants?
I know where you coming from. It makes no difference as long as the food and service are good. I do get tickled because we have a Thai restaurant in town and all the servers are Mexican! That just cracks me up! When we were in Mexico awhile back, I loved meeting the German who owned the bakery just down from our condo!
It's all good! No worries!
As long as the food and service are good, the little things do not bother me.In your opinion is it acceptable to have staff of different origins/ethnicities in Ethnic restaurants?
I honestly don't see a problem with that. I understand your perspective of it, I've walked into authentic vietnamese restaurants and have seen many people with different backgrounds, but I don't think it stops people from coming there if the food is enjoyable.
I've been in a viet restaurant where everyone dressed in traditional attire, no matter where they're from. I think that helped carry out the message of a traditional atmosphere alot.
LOL - sure
In Florida - we table of Americans went to Mexican restaurant
and were served by a Canadian waiter!
Pretty good - eh?
A true North American Meal!
All the best
HAVING FRIENDS AND FAMILY WITH RESTAURANTS, THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE, WORKING FOR THEM, I FOR ONE LIKE TO GO ANYWHERE AND SEE ALL KINDS OF SHADES OF PEOPLE WORKING EVERYWHERE, THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE,NAMASTE
To hire someone due to their Race/Culture or lack of Race/Culture is illegal.
Just because someone in of a certain Race/Culture does not mean they know anything about their Race/Culture.
It you want to open a Mexican restaurant where there are few Mexicans who are you supposed to hire?

What would you like to see in a restaurant that most restaurants do not already have?
What is something that you always hope to see in a restaurant that most restaurants do not already have? It can be anything from certain kinds of food to different kinds of entertainment, etc...What would you like to see in a restaurant that most restaurants do not already have?
A return to the small private rooms for couples who don't want distractions. Even the Japanese restaurants have gone to big open rooms full of tables and noise. It takes all the romance out of the night. Back in the 50s, private rooms for couples were much more common and you could have real privacy when eating your dinner and the restaurants didn't lose money at all...cuz it was a night out, not an assembly line mentality.
SMOKE FREE! most still have the bars or smoking sections. make them all smoke free. i don't want to breath smoke while i try to enjoy a good mealWhat would you like to see in a restaurant that most restaurants do not already have?
A Cigar Store Indian!
honestly an entertainment night that involves dancer and magic tricks.. lol
Most restaurant don't play music.I think most restaurants should play music to entertain there customer while they wait.
Good food, made with fresh ingredients.
SO glad you asked!!!!! A LOW-CARB bun for a hambuger!!!!! It is my wish that I can walk-in somewhere and order a hamburger and not have to eat it without a bun!!!! Basically anything low-carb is a plus... Most restaurants offer salads as their "low-carb" fare.... Uggggghhhhh!!!! I've been to one restaurant that offered low-carb tortillas and I was in heaven! I went all the time, just because of that, and then I moved to a different town... :( Thanks again for asking!!!!
Ceviche in the appetizers. It seems to be non existent! It is a very simple dish and quite healthy.
hand sanitizers and hand washing sinks - in the dining room
Home-made ice-cream, and waiters that don't have attitudes when they serve you.
I would like to see "adult" and "family" sections in upscale restaurants, so I don't have to put up with whining, squalling, overactive kids and their totally oblivious parents while my husband and I are trying to enjoy a relaxing meal.
A table in the kitchen where the chef prepares special food.
I agree that I want to see all resteraunts smoke free. It's really heartsinking when you see people dining in a really nice bit of the resteraunt like the window but when you get in you find that it's a smoking section and you have to sit in another part.
I have also only seen it in one resteraunt, but I would love to see some places to do a chilli and chocolate sauce. Less places doing versions of dishes that have been made more English and less like the dishes of the country. I especially hate that when chinese places do that. It totally ruins the dish.
Choice of spinach on my sandwich instead of lettuce.
I'd like to see Applebee's or some restaurant of that sort have exotic dancers while you eat!!! YEAH!!!!
I kind of like the hot towels to clean your hands with when you sit down, as done everywhere in Japan. It's very civilized.

Lacking in any of these things will also make a reportedly great restaurant not so great in my book

you know what i would like to see? those little jukeboxes at each table that they used to have in some diners and restaurants when i was growing up! of course they would have to have to play music from today!
I would like to watch the food prep / cooking. That way you know if there is any 'funny business' going on. Whether they cook at your table (limited menus) or glass walls to be able to view into the kitchen.

In saudi arabia how do you find out which restaurants buy their meat products locally or abroad?
Alot of restaurants use imported meat which draws conflict to many muslims who want to enjoy their favorite franchises. The reason is that the most traditional muslims do not trust non muslim countries with their meat. Furthermore they DO NOT care how strict the governemtn is Are there any saudi locals who can answer this??? Is there an easier way to find out?In saudi arabia how do you find out which restaurants buy their meat products locally or abroad?
Unfortunately I am not a saudi local who is answering this but the meat imported into saudi arabia is purely halal, because only muslims are entrusted with the job of providing meat to saudi arabia, there are many conditions attached to it like they have a muslim cleric who slaughters the animal and then certifies it later for export, the regulations for export to saudi arabia are very strict and there is no question of haram meat arriving in saudi arabia.

How many generations are we away from eating all our meals in restaurants?
I'm 52 and every meal I ate for the first 18 years of my life was cooked by my mama. There was only one restaurant in my small town. I still live in that same small town and there are at least 50 restaurants in the area. My wife never cooks. How long will it be before we don't even have a kitchen in our houses? How many generations are we away from eating all our meals in restaurants?
i think that those days have arrived. it is either eat at a restraunt or get take out. sorry
In 200 years from now, then we have intelligent machines that do it for us. :)How many generations are we away from eating all our meals in restaurants?
In my opinion, Frozen Dinners will remain popular because the packaging is attractive. Also the Service in restaurants is deteriorating.

I go out to dinner maybe once or twice a year. My husband maybe takes the kids out every other month. I think it's a waste of money and it's real hard to find healthy foods!
It really isn't that people are getting lazy, but it is taking two incomes for people to make ends meet and they don't take the time to teach their kids how to cook. I started cooking family dinners when I was in 7th grade. The first thing I cooked was a pot roast, and it turned out really good. I am now a stay-at-home mom and to make ends meet, we rarely go out to eat. It is so much cheaper to go to Costco and get a big package of meat and have enough for 3-4 meals for the same price it would cost for 2 of us to eat out 1 time.
Neil,
I live in a big city and I have an infinite choice of fine restaurants.
One of the things I like to do is recreate a delicious meal that I had at a restaurant.
I'm not always successful, but my boyfriend could care less!
Tonight I am making a Oven-Baked Lamb Stew with White Beans and Savory. I had it at Napa Valley Grill last week. It was delectable at the restaurant, and it smells good here.
Also, if your wife doesn't cook, you cook! GASP!
I'm 59, and I hardly cook for my husband at home. I would cook, but we don't eat much and it's not worth the time and money to cook at the house. We found it was cheaper to eat out and bring home the leftovers.
There was a time when my two kids were living at home and both of us were working. I cooked homemade pasta, jam and jellies, pies, cookies and big meals from scratch. So it wasn't that I didn't know how to cook, it's different because the type of meals we consume as we get older.
My husband always tease me about not cooking, but I told him I would cook a three course meal all the time, if he promise me he would eat everything on his plate so I have no leftovers (he hates leftovers). He couldn't do it, so we eat out at least two times a week. And he does the grilling now (it's a man thing)
Well it would just be nice if that didn't happen. People should make the choice to cook. Cooking can be fun. I guess it's all in ones own opinion. I love to cook so I don't really have that problem. I cook 90 percent of my meals.
I really don't think we will get to that point. Well then again we are getting lazier, or we are chosing to be so busy we don't have time to cook. That is really a shame, alot of joy can be found in cooking.

Where does the fish originate from for the sushi restaurants in Toronto?
During this horrible oil spill crisis, the question comes to mind, where is the fish coming from in Toronto's sushi restaurants? Is there any source for finding this out? It's not even safe to eat fish from the Atlantic at this time.Where does the fish originate from for the sushi restaurants in Toronto?
Most is from the Pacific, fresh tuna may come from off the coast of Nova Scotia and PEI, salmon is mostly farm raised atlantic salmon, the rest is from the Pacific Ocean, I worked in the hotel and restaurant business for quite awhile and not much fresh product comes from the Gulf of Mexico area this time of year, even oyster and crabs are from the west coast or down around the US east coast, Maryland, Georgia and Virginia.Where does the fish originate from for the sushi restaurants in Toronto?
The sea.

Do you think smoking in restaurants should be band?
I think is should be up to the owner of the restaurant if they want to band smoking or have a non-smoking section and/or smoking section.
I personally don't have a problem with smoking in restaurants.Do you think smoking in restaurants should be band?
I don't have a problem either, but the laws in my state have banned a lot of things and smoking is one of them. There are even whole towns that have banned people smoking in their own home!
The nicotine nazis have taken over the legislature and the courts, luckily there are places smokers can go to eat and smoke without a problem they call them cigar-clubs or something similar to that in NY.
People think its all about healthy living but it is really about control. Someday the 'powers that be' will ban something they enjoy doing and they too will get all indignent.
As long as you open a door for one group of people that opens the door to harass other groups of people, right now in CA its anyone that is considered 'obese'. Freedom isn't free anymore.
I think so. I think they should ban smoking at parks too.Do you think smoking in restaurants should be band?
It is in Nebraska, and I can say that I like it a lot. I like not having to remember to ask for smoking for non-smoking. I like being able to breathe clean air and not have to worry about second hand smoke damage. I especially like not having to worry about it with my children.
the public's interest in not being subected to second hand smoke outweighs the interest of the owner. Banning smoking is in the public's interest for reasons of health and obnoxious odors. It's a dirty habit too. How about working for a restaurant and you job would be to clean ashtrays and toilets?
i think it should be banned
its disgusting and as an adult with asthma its very hard for me to breathe in any place where smoking is permitted
plus the smoke lingers into the kitchen and into the food
smoke outside n open air
i have smoker friends who never smoke indoors ever not even at home
smoking sections dont keep smoke out of the nonsmoking areas its my God given right to breathe clean air smoking is a privilege not a right now take it to the parking lot
my city is smoke free cant smoke in any business except bars
If I can't smoke why would they allow the band?
No but I do think that they need to be sure that smoking in the smoking section doesn't flow into the nonsmoking section. There are some people who have medical issues that cannot be around it at all, and its not necessarily fair that they stay cooped up in their house all the time. One of my friends has Cystic Fibrosis and cannot be around it at all.
I used to smoke and can't stand to smell it anymore. I hate when I am in a restaurant and I end up smelling it or have to walk through the smoking section just to get to the bathroom.
yes, they should be banned.
I have a huge problem with smoking in resturants and other public places where non-smokers have to share. I understand the desire and need to smoke. I used to. But even then, I never smoked in public. (old fashioned I guess). At any rate, I developed asthma and therefore, I honestly appreciate the ability to breathe and I know what it feels like when one can't. I also know what my hair and clothes smell like after I have been housed closely with a smoker.....especially the ones who are chain smokers. I have noticed the callousness of some smokers. They put their cigs out anywhere and when they don't want to use their own car ashtrays (if they have them), they throw them out the window. I just think it's sad. I know smokers want the freedom to smoke too, but I guess it can't be done both ways to please.
I am for banning smoking everywhere except in your own home. It's gross and it causes litter problems, health problems, and cosmetic issues. I doubt it would cause a loss of business because if you ban smoking everywhere except at home, who is going to sit in their house 24/7? If you only ban it in select restaurants, that's where you'll see more of a loss in business.

Yes, smoking in restaurants should be banned. It's not good for the customers, and it's not good for the employees. Non-smoking sections are almost impossible to have - to be a true non-smoking section, that section has to be enclosed separately and have it's own air-handling system. As far as HOW it should be banned, I think it should be the decision of the owner of the restaurant. I frequent Columbia, Mo., a great deal - the city council banned smoking in all bars and restaurants - it has worked well for over a year and I love it. However, I LIVE in Jefferson City, Mo, where many restaurants have CHOSEN to go non-smoking, and those are the ONLY ones I go to. Smoking is bad - for smokers and non-smokers. Period. Peace.
Here in the UK smoking is 'banned' in any public place. Whether it be resturants, pubs etc.
Yeah it should be banned. Its not fair to non-smokers to have to inhale second hand smoke and smell like smoke when they leave. I guarantee if the shoe was on the other foot it would be the same old bullcrap argument. Go outside if you want to slowly kill yourself.
I do have a problem with it; I am allergic to smoke and had to quit myself in 96 because of damage to my mouth and tongue from nicotine so if anyone smokes near me they either have to put it out or leave, and I certainly would not tolerate that in a restaurant.
The business is owned by a private business owner, the person who OWNS the business should have the right to make it whatever kind of establishment they want it to be. THe government should have NO control over what a private business owner does. If you don't like it, go to one of the million other businesses that don't have it.. simple
Re: John M- If its becuse it is not good for the customers, then why do most restraunts serve deep fried foods and fruit spreads made with high fructose corn syrup? Shoud we get rid of that too?
I think a restaurant should be permitted to have a "smoking" section if, and only if, the restaurant will seal off the "smoking" and "non-smoking" sections and have a separate HVAC system for each section. There should be no way that the smoke be permitted to infiltrate the non-smoking section.
A bar in the town where I live did just that. It was expensive for them to do, but I am glad they did it.
I would rather they band bad spelling and incorrect sentence structure.
Not only in restaurants should be banned but all over the world.... give it time and it will
around here alot of them already did. pennsylvania passed the smoking ban a few months ago
If you only ban it in select restaurants, that's where you'll see more of a loss in business.
yup its sooooo sick

What nice restaurants take parties of up to 16 people?
I'm planning a surprise birthday for my friend but I can't find any restaurants that just take the large reservation without having to pay in advance or per person.
ANY ideas would be helpful...What nice restaurants take parties of up to 16 people?
I don't know where you live, but around here 16 people is not a large number. Make a reservation and enjoy, most restaurant should be more than happy to reserve for you. I can understand asking for a confirmation when you get close to the date but I have never had to pay in advance or deposit. Change venue, I am sure some restaurant will be more than please to serve you.
Pizza Hut.What nice restaurants take parties of up to 16 people?
all u can eat buffets
Where are you?
olive garden or applebees, if u hav those or possibly TGI Fridays
Cheesecake factory
I think that if you want to do this surprise birthday thing right, then you're going to have to bite the bullet and make a reservation someplace, pay in advance or whatever they want. Usually they want a guaranteed tip for service instead of a deposit, but depends on where you're going. I'd recommend something fun and light, such as Bucca de Beppo, Olive Garden, Max's Opera Cafe's, Spaghetti Factory, or some other local chain restaurant where the food is decent and they're greatful for the reservation. Or, you could have it at your house, buy some platters, and have the party there.
Carlos Junior
Red Lobster
Ryans
Golden Corral
Texas Steakhouse
Outback
Ruby Tuesdays
When I think of "nice" I think a little more high end. Maybe a steakhouse such as Morton's , Ruths Chris, Capital Grille. These are not inexpensive. They usually have private rooms. If you want something a little less expensive I would try Maggiano's they hace family style Italian, and except large parties. Average $20-30/person. Also a Japanese Teppanyaki, where they cook at your table is great for large parties!
McDonalds does. And as for the surprise part.........
any restaurant that you choose provided that you call ahead for a reservation...if you just show up that creates chaos for the servers and kitchen staff. so call ahead and reserve for a large group so the restaurant can add staff to make sure your table is taken care of properly and try not to book your table in the middle of their dinner rush try going at like 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.it will be a better time for all if the restaurant is prepared for your party.

What chain restaurants make party sized pizzas?
I'm ordering for an upcoming event. Are there any chain restaurants (Pizza Hut, Papa John's Domino's, etc) that do party sized pizzas? Party sized pizzas are the super large ones cut up into 20-25 squares. I would need to order 2 of them for delivery. Thank you! What chain restaurants make party sized pizzas?

Why do restaurants have such high turnover rates?
I am planning to become a Culinary arts student and I am told restaurants have the highest turnover rates. Why do restaurants have such high turnover rates?
stressful work-fast paced - pretty much have to work almost always evening/night shift - especially on weekends - no chance for social life - pay probably isn;t that great for the first 20 yrs or so
Depends on the benefits. Some restaurants have people stay there for 30 plus years, due to amazing benefits, and the simple fact they like the job, and this is evident in places that are popular with locals and are unique.
Others, i.e. chains expect to have high turnover simply because its not speicalized food, and everything is strictly prepared.
If you want to stay in one job for years, go to a top notch place in your area. I know of chef that has been in the same place for 15 years since he built the place from the ground up.Why do restaurants have such high turnover rates?
Unstable income (tips), desire to move up (among chefs - no one wants to be a salad chef all their life), instability of the food service economy (60% of restaurants/bars fail in their first 3 years).russian translator wich wich

Why does sonics advertise to places they dont have restaurants in?
I live in maryland, but go to school in NY. The closest sonics to both of those locations is either delaware or pennsylvania. I've been seeings sonics commercials for years and am really confused as to why they advertise to so many places that they dont have restaurants in.Why does sonics advertise to places they dont have restaurants in?
Well, according to their website, Sonic hopes to expand into markets they're not presently located in, for instance the northeast. There are a few Sonics in Pennsylvania, but above that, there are none at this time. Perhaps advertising in this area (and other areas) will help people become familiar with the brand and will generate interest for when Sonic does join these markets.
Also, it can be valuable for the travel market. If I'm going down to Florida and I know a little about what Sonic has to offer though I've never been before, I may be more likely to go if I'm familiar with the name and product while places like Steak N Shake or Chick-Fil-A would be less appealing because those brands are virtually invisible in the northeast.
This is a great question. My husband and I see these commercials and always go...ummm...that looks good....and we don't have one anywhere near us either. Maybe they will be coming and they want people to be familiar with their product since they see it on t.v. It's working because as soon as we get one...I want to go check out some of those milk shakes I keep seeing (he, he).Why does sonics advertise to places they dont have restaurants in?
So that when you travel to a place has a Sonic, you will try it.
Happens here too. They just pay the service companies to air the commercial, and since the station is played all over the country, so is the commercial
I comment on that every time I see those! My husband threatened to buy one and put it near our home so I would shut up about it. My guess is they are using it to target markets and see where they should expand to.
Many companies advertise on national cable. The problem is what you describe: Sometimes you see ads for companies that are not in your area. That's what is happening with Sonic.
Because they want u to want sonic when they finally build it. They did that around us. We seen sonic commercials 4 about a year before they built it and they were so busy when they opened.

What is the name of soup served at hibachi restaurants?
What is the name of the simple soup served commonly at hibachi restaurants? (Like benihana.)
It isn't miso soup (no tofu, no seaweed). It's just a light simple soup.
I'd like to know what it's called %26amp; how to make it!What is the name of soup served at hibachi restaurants?
First off, miso doesn't refer to the tofu and seaweed in the soup. Miso is a fermented paste made from soybeans, and it's often used to make soup broth. Tofu and seaweed are just common toppings for miso soup.
Japanese clear soup stock is called dashi. There are lots of different types, usually made from things like fish, sea vegetable, and mushrooms.

Do Toronto restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake?
I'm planning a birthday dinner in Toronto and i was wondering if most restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake in?Do Toronto restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake?
I don't know a thing about the restaurants in Toronto, but most restaurants everywhere will let you bring your own cake in. I don't think anyone would have a problem with it.
most will, but yeah call ahead of time. they'll appreciate that. some charge, some don't. i work as a pastry chef at a restaurant and we get cake brought in pretty often.Do Toronto restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake?
No
i don't think so. call ahead and ask.
I always call ahead first and ask if this is acceptable, if not then I will make arrangements to use what the restaurant has. But if this is something special like for a extra large crowd or something different like a flavor the restaurant does not provide usually there is no problem.
Pick a restaurant you'd like to go to, then phone and ask. How hard is that?
Most restaurants will allow it, but some will charge a "plating fee" since they would ideally like you to buy dessert. It's usually a few bucks per person, or a flat fee. Never too much, but it's fair considering you're bringing in outside food.
I live here and I've never had a problem. Most of them are happy to oblige. If you have any concerns about a particular place, call them and clear it with them first. Get the name of the person so you have recourse.

1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon sugar
SPRINKLE berries with lemon juice; set aside.
FIT half of pastry in a 9-inch pieplate according to package directions.
COMBINE 1 cup sugar and next 3 ingredients; add to berries, stirring well.
Pour into pastry shell, and dot with butter.
UNFOLD remaining pastry on a lightly floured surface; roll gently with rolling pin to remove creases in pastry.
Place pastry over filling; seal and crimp edges.
Cut slits in top of crust to allow steam to escape.
Brush top of pastry with beaten egg, and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar BAKE at 400掳 for 35 minutes or until golden.
Cover edges with aluminum foil to prevent overbrowning, if necessary.
Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Corn Starch (Corn Flour) is the secret.

How long do i have to wait to visit a couple of restaurants that might be mad at me?
I used to visit two restaurants (sit-down restaurants, not fast food) near me, but they f-ed up my orders a lot so i was very rude to them a few times, but they deserved it.
I am afraid to visit them now, because i know they will poison my food.
So, how long should i wait before it's safe to go there? Maybe 18 months? How long do i have to wait to visit a couple of restaurants that might be mad at me?
Once, I told a rude and large nosed hostess that she would only find a husband if nasal intercourse became popular. I tried to return to the restaurant 2 years after the rant and was arrested. So you need to wait two years and 1 day.
They probably would not poison your food but spitting in your drink/food dropping it on the floor and then on your plate etc etc are all things you would never notice but could happen if you go back. If you must I would say depends on who you insulted if it was a young waitress she'll probably be gone in 5 years if it was someone older 10 and hopefully they would no longer be there however a manager or someone else will probably be there until the place closes down. How long do i have to wait to visit a couple of restaurants that might be mad at me?
Yeah - I don't get why you'd want to go back if they messed up your order.
On the flip side - this is the consequece you have to pay for being rude. No one ever deserves to have someone rude to them because tempers will always die down and then your left with a bad taste in your mouth - or in your case, desiring a good taste that you can't have.
Just stay away.
With the economy the way it is they wont turn you away. Poison your food? Doubt that. When you order be very specific and if you are unsure of what the item....plate consists of ask the server to explain. If your order arrives and it is wrong tell server ASAP. Try to be genial...there is a polite way to express disdain.
Good luck.
Yeah, don't go back if you were really rude. Unfortunately that's the price you pay. Plus if they were continuously screwing everything up and will poison your food, you shouldn't give them your business anyway.
I am sure the place has shifts. Just go on a different shift.
If it is a "Mom %26amp; Pop" place, the same people will ALWAYS be there.
if theyre so bad, dont go back

Going out to stores and restaurants with a newborn?
Did you go to stores and restaurants with your newborn or baby? How did you go about it? Did you use a stroller, sling or carrier/baby bjorn? When baby cried/got hungry, did you breast feed or bottle feed? When going to a restaurant did you just bring the carseat? Where did you put the carseat? Did it fit into a booth? (I have graco safe seat). Just looking for a few tips and tricks when we do decide to step out. Thanks so much!|||My daughter is 2 months old. I put her in her carseat/stroller (the 2 in one). She mostly sleeps when we're out. I put the car seat next to me on the seat when we're eating out somewhere. :) Congrats to you!
I bottle feed in public. Even if I COULD nurse, I'd be too self conscious to breastfeed in public.|||Just because you have a baby doesn't mean you're under house arrest!! I often go out with my bubs and always have since he was about a day old. It depends on what i'm doing as to whether i'll use the stroller or our carrier but usually i use the stroller. Or the baby trolleys also come in handy for grocery shopping or when you're getting something big and won't be able to carry it.
As for going to a restaurant i have a convertible baby seat (therefore can't really just take it out of the car) so we again usually use the stroller (definitely getting our $100 worth with that one)
When he got hungry i used to just breastfeed him, if i was with someone we would often continue shopping and i'd walk around and feed him otherwise i'd just go and get myself something to eat or drink and sit in the food court |||We did go to stores and restaurants with our newborn. We would mainly have him in his carseat/carrier and have him sit on the table while we ate. At the stores, we would have his carrier in the shopping cart. Other times, we would have him in a baby bjorn (front carrier) and would walk around the store like that. When he got hungry, we would stop what we were doing and feed him (bottle). When he got fussy (rarely), we would just try to find out what he needed and do that for him. It was a little stressful in the beginning, but once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed going places with my newborn son. He's 7 months now.
Take care!|||I was released from the hospital on Thanksgiving day, so we took Lily to two different family dinners that day. We didn't take her out to a store until yesterday at 8 days old. We kept her in her car seat the whole time and put the car seat in the shopping carts. Haven't tried going to a restaurant yet, but tomorrow will be the first time for that. I haven't taken her out without her daddy yet though. I actually tried to the other day and I freaked myself out. I was afraid to take her in the car seat because I was afraid it would be too heavy, so I tried a sling-type carrier and she just looked uncomfortable. I tried a front carrier and again, she looked uncomfortable - her face kept hitting the hard top of it. I ended up staying home. Now I throw myself into a panic attack at the thought of leaving the apartment with her without her daddy.
I hope you have better luck than me!!!|||Yes. It's VERY easy with babies that aren't mobile. For newborns, I used a carseat in a resaurant, and a moby wrap, pouch, or commercial carrier. I breastfeed. I breastfeed in public, and pretty much no one even notices, because your sling/pouch/carrier blocks the view.
Your graco safeseat will fit in a booth, but you can also turn those wooden restaurant high chairs upside down, and it will fit in there as well.
|||We would bring our daughter into the restaurant in her Graco infant car seat. It would fit in most booths, but it also fits snuggly into the top of those wooden baby seats you find in restaurants (there is a link to a picture of the seat I'm talking about at the bottom of my post).
We also asked for a table a bit more secluded so my wife could comfortably breast feed without people gawking too much.
We've been taking our girl to restaurants since she was born, and we've never had issues.|||I just usually lugged him around in the carseat, since usually when he was younger he ALWAYS went to sleep in the car. Usually I didn't like to get the stroller out I would just put the carseat on or inside the cart at stores.
I was never too keen on breastfeeding in public since it is just difficult(I mean I have no problem with other women doing it but it's not for me); so I always pumped a couple ounces of milk before I went somewhere and if he woke up I fed it to him in a bottle.
Most carseats will fit into restaurant booths. mine does.
|||Lets see, 3 days after I had sarah , Hubby , my mom, Sarah %26amp; I all went to Costco..we used her car seat most of the time, but I never wanted to let go of her, so I carried her as much as I could..remember 3 days after..then the next day we went to Denver 20 mins away from us. she was all bundled up being carried by Daddy in the Baby Bjorn. Slept the entire time. I was Breastfeeding at the time but I pumped that day( just the liquid gold at that time no milk yet) Most restaurants have a caddy/hammock for the infant car seats and I had it sitting right next to me. I have a Graco too, and its the one that fits up to 35 lbs I think so its extra big, and some booth it fits and some it doesn't. I also have a hard time fitting it into carts.(Sarah is 9 months now, she sit in the seats of carts and highchairs) . I have a device that my infant car seat snaps onto and becomes a stroller. I hope that helped a bit. |||i have the safeseat as well, and it is bigger, so it doesn't fit well on the bottom of highchairs and such, but we just put it on the table, it wouldn't fit in the booth itself...i usually put it down in the buggy bc it doesn't balance well enough for me to feel safe..i do love the seat though! i do sometimes use my bjorn, she likes that too. i have snapped the seat into the stroller when she was a nb and slept a lot, but now that she's more alert and stronger...six mos..she rides in the stroller without the seat and she is very comfy there, she will sleep there too if she gets tired....we bottle feed when she's hungry....we did wait until she was around 2 mos before we really took her many places to allow herself to get a little bit of an immune system going...she had her first set of shots and such....i didn't take her out anywhere i didn't have too before then.|||Yup. I would rather him have a strong immune system than a week one. Heck he went to Target 3 days after he was born. Its more dangerous for them to be in a hospital. Just cover him with a blanket or keep him in a carrier. I just left my son in his car seat and didn't let weird strangers touch him. The snugli is the most amazing carrier as well. If you go to a restaraunt with a carseat, some have special highchairs that fit carseats on them. They usually fit in the booth though. And when baby was hungry, he ate. If I had no bottle,I gave him the breast. Or gave him a bottle if I needed to. |||I went out with my nb and 2 yr old. Its easy since they are mostly asleep. I used the shopping cart and stuck the carseat in there, when he got hungry i gave him his bottle. When out to eat i put the carseat in the booth, if no booth get a high chair turn it around and put the carseat on the that, it snaps on for safety.|||I always took my kids to stores and out to eat when they were babies. I used a carrier. I also bottle feed but I like that idea better myself. When I took them anywhere I always used the carrier. Which I would place on another chair or booth next to me. You will be fine. It's healthy for a baby to be outside every once in awhile|||We went everywhere with my baby girl--still do. We usually take the car seat in (fits in booths perfectly). If we go somewhere like the mall though, we take her stroller. I only bottle feed, so thats never really a problem.
Good luck and God bless!|||We used the stroller and was able to snap their car seats in it. For restaurants, if you flip over their highchairs the car seat will fit nicely in them. I formula fed them so we brought along some just in case they got fussy.|||I took my boys everywhere with us when they were newborns. I used a sling or wrap, and nursed them wherever we happened to be.
The carseat stayed in the car, so no worries about where to put it.|||My baby is 4 weeks old, and we've been taking him out since he was 5 days (we had to take him by the hospital, and had to run a few errands, so we ended up having lunch, too!) We haven't had many problems. In stores, I prop the carseat on the top of the cart and NEVER leave the cart with my baby alone. I also always have a diaper and wipes with me, just in case (usually the diaper bag). I've had to change diapers in restrooms, and may I strongly recommend buying some disposable changing pad cloths. There's dispensers on the changing tables for covers, but they are ALWAYS empty, and the thought of sticking my newborn on there without anything between him and the plastic makes me ill, lol. I wipe it down with a wipe first, put down my portable changing pad, then throw down the disposable pad. It's great, and easy clean-up. At restaurants, he usually fits in his car seat into the booth, but if not, the hostesses/workers are very accommodating and bring a high chair and flip it upside down, or bring over a chair from another table, and are sure to seat us so we are out of the way. I always pump and/or make a formula bottle for him when we're going out so we don't worry about breastfeeding. We never keep him out for longer than one feeding. I'm always sure to pump and feed him before we go, and breastfeed then pump immediately upon returning home. Only one time we stayed out too long and he'd had the bottle already, then awoke and wanted more, so we had to pull over and breastfeed. We've never ventured out without Dad yet (we only have one car) and when I do I think I'll do the baby carrier (sling or otherwise) for ease. Usually small babies will shut down and nap when overstimulated, and this has been our luck so far. We figured we should take him out now to get him used to it, and because it's easy now. Soon enough it'll be tougher, and we'll miss when we could just throw him in his carseat and go! |||As a single mum I brought my daughter everywhere with me. Besides I breastfed so she was like my little velcro baby, LOL! Anyway, If I was going into a grocery store or other mega store like Walmart or Target with carts I would just take the carseat out and put it in the front of the cart. Most carseats have lttle hooks on the front and will fit snugly and safely in the front basket of the cart. (Just make sure the restraint system is ALWAYS done up well). If I was going into the mall or restaruant or other place without carts I would attach the carseat nto the front of the stroller or if it was just a quick trip and Avary was already awake I would put her in the sling or front carrier but I have a really bad back so I couldn't keep that up too long - thus, the stroller. Either way, I always at least tossed the sling/carrier in the cart or stroller basket to use if she got fussy. That way my hands would be free to finish shopping. I had a Maya Wrap and it was great for nursing discreetly too. I nursed in public (discreetly) all the time. I have no problem with women who nurse anywhere - it's more about what you are comfortable with, and besides, I try to be respectful of other peoples situations and feelings. If I was nursing in the middle of the mall and a mom with three kids walked by, perhaps they would be very confused and demand an explanation from their mom right then. That would put her in a tough situation, especially if she had chosen to parent in a very conservative way. (Just one example) I believe everyone should have the oppertuntiy to parent and live as they wish but if the choices you make infringe on another person's right to make different choices, then that's just rude. (Sort of like the smoking and second-hand smoke issue).
As for the carseat, yes, they usually fit on the seat in the booth. One side of the booth usually has more space than the other for some reason (maybe accomodating in case one person in the party is very obese - who knows) - I would figure out which side had the most space. Often however the carseat would end up on top of the table pushed toward the back (especially if I was out with my mom or sis) because everyone wanted to be able to see the baby. I usually also asked to a table in the back or out of the way so if Avary cried I wouldn't ruin anyone else's mealtime and I could nurse her without making anyone uncomfortable. BTW I also had a Graco.
I hope this info helps you. I certainly know how it is to be new at this and have a lot of questions. My daughter is almost 8 months old already! God, the time flies by! Treasure every moment - I know you will. And really, feel free to add me as a cotact and ask me any question in the future. SOmetimes it helps to have a contact to ask those questions you don't want to call your ped for. Good luck to you and congrats on your little miracle! Cheers!|||I tried not to take my son out, now 7 weeks, until he was at least 2 weeks old. We ended up going to Ruby Tuesdays to take my mom out to dinner and see the baby for the 2nd time when he was a week old. I took him in his car seat and left him in it. People tend to keep their distance and with him still strapped in the question of holding or touching doesn't come up unless you invite it.
Everyone always asked how old he was and most understand about not handling a newborn.
As for the feedings, I breastfeed. I never did like leaving the party, so to speak, just to feed him. Makes you feel like a leper. So, I get a nice, big baby blanket and put it over my head, kind of creating a tent for my and my son. That way I can actually see my son and help him keep the nipple in his mouth. I can still talk to everyone at the table and be included in the evening. If I happen to be at a store I try and nurse before I go into the store. Again I take the car seat. Until he is big enough to sit in a highchair or shopping cart by himself I stay with the car seat.
As for placement, some restaurants have slings that are especially for car seats. They can also be placed on top of the highchairs. For shopping, you can stick them on the area where a child would sit, or you can pull that part so that it is closed and then place the seat either in the cart or so that it is spanning the cart with the bottom and top resting on the sides of the cart.
Hope this helps! have fun!!
I bottle feed in public. Even if I COULD nurse, I'd be too self conscious to breastfeed in public.|||Just because you have a baby doesn't mean you're under house arrest!!
Hope this helps! have fun!!
What do you think of loud music in restaurants?
It seems like more and more restaurants play loud music. I don't know how many times I thought "I wish they would turn that down". I'm young and like loud music but when I go out to eat, I want to relax and talk to the people I'm with. I could see it in a sports bar/grill type place but they seems like it is everywhere. I should mention the really annoying birthday singers too. It was cool the first few times I saw it but it is really getting old now. What do you think? What do you think of loud music in restaurants?
I am in full agreement ! If I am with others we can hear each other. If I am dinning alone I always read. Hard to concentrate with all that racket. As for "happy Birthday" songs. I don't mind, it doesn't last long and it may mean a lot to the B.D. boy or girl.
I totally agree! My dad wont even go to certain loud places, and I want to take him because I know he would love the food! What do you think of loud music in restaurants?
I hate the loud music when i'm trying to eat and talk,,,Its annoying,,,,It actually happened to us tonight at Pizza hut!!,,,the idiots,,,
I like music in a restaurant but not loud..I also want to relax and be able to hear what is being said to each other and so the waitress can hear our order.
go up to them and tell them to shut up because theyare not good
I think that the loud music should only take place in the sports bars/grill type places but nowhere else, especially at a family restaurant.
Oh no, no loud music in a resturant, that is a place for soothing mellow music. After you eat go listen to loud music.
i think its ok
i absolutley hate it, it's very unsettling for me while i'm trying to eat and have casual conversation
I love it, but only because the sound of people chewing makes me go paranoid! (i never stay in the same room as someone who's chewing loudly)
I think they need to tone down the music. When I go out I go to rewind and relax. Loud music fills my head, when all I want is serenity.
I am not sure what type of establishments you frquent butthere are plenty of resturants that do not play music. Example, the Outback ,Bone Fish Grill, etc... Try to experiment and find different resutrants that do not play loud music.
Many mom and pop resturants use old values and traditions, and do not play loud music... Good luck!!pizza games mediterranean diet

How should I tips in Louisiana's restaurants/dinners?
I am new to Louisiana, would anyone tell me how much tips should I leave in Louisiana's restaurants or dinners? Thank you!How should I tips in Louisiana's restaurants/dinners?
Regardless of what state you are in, you should always tip between 15 and 20 percent. Tipping more for outstanding service never hurts either. Most servers only make $2.15 an hour, which is a lot less than minimum wage for most jobs, and depend solely on tips for their salary.
A good rule of thumb is always tip 20%. If you have awesome service maybe 30% and if you have awful service- (If it's something the waitress had control over; like her attitude)-ask to speak to a manager. How should I tips in Louisiana's restaurants/dinners?
I generally tip 10% of the bill, anywhere. You don't have to go crazy if you don't think it's worth it, though, but feel free to pay a little more if you had a good time. :)
cash - tip per the service - average 20 per cent
20% unless they suck.
I don't care what state i am in,,,,i tip 15pct for mediocre service and up to 30pct for great service...
standard tip - 15% to 20 % of total bill !!!

How much is a meal at the two restaurants in the Clarion Hotel Anaheim; disneyland?
I was planning on going to disneyland in May and am staying here, there are two restaurants on site and I was curious how much I would expect them to be for lunch and dinner.. any help is appreciated!!How much is a meal at the two restaurants in the Clarion Hotel Anaheim; disneyland?
I dont know about that hotel, but if you plan on eating in any of the sit down restaurants in disneyland you might want to make reservations in advanced, esp the Blue Bayou! May isnt that crowded for Disneyland, but the restaurants can be.

How do I ask restaurants for cooking lessons?
If I want to offer cash in exchange for some behind-the-scenes lessons at restaurants that normally don't provide them, specifically, cheap ethnic 1 or 2 star restaurants, how would I go about doing this? How do I ask restaurants for cooking lessons?
Most commercial kitchens I've seen are so busy, they don't have time to teach someone broiler skills or even attractive plating - they're running as fast as they can. I'd suggest you read "Kitchen Confidential," by Anthony Bourdain to get a good insight of what goes on in a restaurant kitchen and perhaps buy a good detailed cookbook like Joy of Cooking by Irma Rombauer.
Cook for your family and friends and practice, practice, practice.
Talk to the owner or manager. Say that you like the food and you're curious how it's prepared. They should be relatively open to allowing you to watch during the downtime (like prep or when dinner service is about to start), and if it's ethnic, they'd be pretty flattered. Most should be willing. They see it as an opportunity to develop a relationship with you so you'll patronize the restaurant. If the one restaurant doesn't allow it, then try another. You can always get lessons off the web as an alternative. How do I ask restaurants for cooking lessons?
restaurants do not provide any cooking classes because it is a major liability risk to them and their customers. If you are employed you are trained by them and under their guidelines and program. by working for them you are also covered under their insurance. taking cooking classes you are not.
ok this helps, i am a culinary student and this always works. i call ahead of time and ask to speak to the head chef or the manager, then i tell them who i am, a student at blah blah blah, i then say that me and a group or me or a partner are going to the restaurant and would like a tour of the kitchen after our meal. after the tour i usually ask for an externship position, or a stage (pronounced stahj) this position would allow you to gain access to the kitchen and see whats really going on, offer your assistance, but you will not be paid. even if you dont get to have a position for the day, most likely you will get the tour. it's all up to you, see what you can get out of it. milk it, its kinda like building up the chef's ego, and they might even compensate some dishes you order, or even send some stuff out just for you to try at no extra charge. i always get hooked up, but then again i am always interested in the place i go out to eat at and follow up on my offer. you have to commit to it, and be available for anything. you would be surprised how much you can learn in 1 shift.
Most restaurants like that are too busy trying to get dough. But if the manager were generous enough, guess he could let you in the kitchen at least.
They want to use their ingredients wisely, so im not sure if they would let you cook and all.
Ask a mananger for the recipe. Most times they will share. Then askw when they prep everyhthing and if the could call you the day of or before they make that item and ask to watch. Just remember the worst they can say is no.
Find yourself a greasy spoon and see if you can be hired on to work in the kitchen first. Then you can work your way up from there. Lessons? No. On the job training, possibly.
Best way into a kitchen is thru the dishwasher. When you have a break, learn everything you can.
you go in the restaraunt, find someone who works there, and ask them for cooking lessons
I think you should ask the maneger of the place first. See of what they say.
like sponge bob? paying mr krabs to work for him LOL.

What are some tips to ordering well at restaurants?
Im writing an article on how to order well at restaurants?
Anyone know any tips. What are some tips to ordering well at restaurants?
first work out how much you can afford to spend.
remember that some places serve huge meals so know whether to have a starter, main and dessert or look at share platters. sometimes you can order an entree size serve for your main course.
If there are a groupf you work out how you are going to split the bill or pay for your own.
If unsure, ask the waiter to recommend dishes based on your likes. then if you are not familiar with wine ordering ask the waiter to suggest the right wine to go with it. ask for small breaks between courses so you have time to digest and enjoy.
go when you are hungary, take time review the menu, make suggestions or ask for suggestions if you do not see something you like drink a glass of water before the meal if the plate of food is smaller than you expected the water will help fill you up so you do not leave still famishedWhat are some tips to ordering well at restaurants?
Ask about specials and recommendations. Ask about substitutions. (If needed). Ask for additional condiments. (If necessary). That's all I can think of for right now.
Order well as in healthy or understandable...
Huh?
How would one order badly? Seems like you are trying to make an issue of something that doesn't exist.
Can you be more specific?

I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend on her birthday and wanted to know some nice restaurants around Southbank in Brisbane or another close by that would be a really romantic place to do it or lead up to it.. I have also planned a gondola boat ride up the river to see the lights of Brisbane. My Fiance took me to a rather nice seafood deck restaurant overlooking the river for my Birthday a few years ago, I can't really remember the name but if you sift through the list on the website and actually google the business names I'm sure you'll be able to see what they look like, or alternatively you can go there yourself and take a look at what's around during the day. What are some romantic restaurants in Southbank Brisbane or close by that would be great for a proposal?

What kind of beef patties do fast food restaurants use?
I bought 91% lean 1/4 lb package of beef patties, 180 cals. What type of 1/4 lb patty do fast food restaurants use?
Is it lean at all or does most of the fat drain off. How much fat typically comes off or drains away when you cook the patty? What kind of beef patties do fast food restaurants use?
"Wilder-beast" meat...It is cheaper......%26gt;:)
At most fast food joints.... the meat is already cooked and they just place it in the microwave or throw it on a grill for a minute. Hence.... fast, fast food. How long did it take you to make your burger at home???What kind of beef patties do fast food restaurants use?
Cheap poorly slauterd meat. Look up Shapiro meat packing. New Your times wrote a 5 page article on the disgusting conditions in the meat packing process. I will never eat meat again. Yes, there is fecal matter in the meat. YUCK!!!
The cheapest that they can get to maximize profits.
USDA Choice and Prime, as least, the big ones do.

Is it true that the waiters/waitresses in restaurants only get to eat leftovers?
...of the food served to the people? This is quite common in rural India - but someone told me the same happens in American restaurants also. Is that true?Is it true that the waiters/waitresses in restaurants only get to eat leftovers?
My best friend was a waitress for many years (she and her husband own their own restaurant now). All the places she worked had different policies. Most gave them a meal, some had one just for staff, no choice, others let them choose. I think only one place didn't give food.
But as for eating Ieftovers, I will never forget a story she told me, and this was in a VERY elegant %26amp; exclusive private restaurant/club. She said she and most of the other staff would eat shrimp that went back if the part of the plate it was on didn't look touched. I remember this all these years later as it skeeved me out then, and still does lolol. She said something like "oh everyone does it" matter of factly and laughed at me. And yes it was against policy and like heath codes. So this may not be totally uncommon here in the US!
ok, on this question we have to use alittle common sense, who would work at a place were all you got fed was people's scraps, on top of that its 100% against the food and health regulation, and there would be billions of worker complaints to the better business breau. Is it true that the waiters/waitresses in restaurants only get to eat leftovers?
no, they eat off your plate before they serve it to you. so if you find a bite ar two out of your food that means it is really good.
It's againt health regulations here in the U.S.
I worked in restaurants for 18 yrs and never heard of anything like that.
This is not true at all, maybe in other places in the world, but certainly not in the U.S.A. Some restaurants limit their employees to what they can order from the menu, but they don't eat leftovers. Some employees are limited to a choice from a sub-prime menu as opposed to the menu that paying customers choose from. The sub-prime menu lists food of lesser quality than the customer menu, and the recipes aren't as complex.
However the policy may be different for room service waiters. When I was a room service waiter at a luxury hotel I got to eat whatever I wanted, cause I worked the graveyard shift, and the morning shift chef would fix me the most delicious breakfasts when he arrived in the morning, cause he liked me. Of course this didn't make the rest of the morning employees happy that weren't room service waiters like me, cause they were limited to crappy sub-prime menu food. I got the supreme menu food, yeeaahh! This luxury hotel had gourmet food, and I got to eat whatever I wanted from the menu...I'm surprised I didn't gain 100 lbs. while working there, cause it was damn good.
In answer to the second part of your question. Eating a customer's leftovers is against health regulations in the United States, but that doesn't mean waiters don't sneak a bite here and there, especially since one can tell many items that a customer orders aren't even touched, they're just discarded. It's a shame. I certainly snuck in a piece of cheesecake here and there that hadn't been touched, or unopened soda, untouched gourmet fruit salad, Pierrer, etc.
It is shuned apon here for people to eat scraps of food off of a plate that is comming back from a table. Most of the time wait staff are given a free meal or a dicount. At my work we make a staff meal buffet style, if you don't like it bring your own luch is what I say, but no one listens, oh and when there is a mistake it is offered to the wait staff.
Any restaurant I have worked has had some kind of policy by which employees were allowed a meal or a certain dollar amount of food. Granted, it wasn't the best the place offered its patrons, but usually one could at least get out of there having filled her belly without eating the scraps off a stranger's plate.
Though, a lot of servers take home meat scraps to their dogs.
not where i come from most places around here u get 1 free meal or a discount
No. They get meals, but not left overs.
It really depends on where you work.
I know somebody whos a waitress and shes allowed a free meal of her choice, not leftovers
No i don't think its true that this happens in America.I'm not a waitresses but if i was i wouldn't eat peoples leftovers
No. Where did you hear this? It sounds like someone wants to make a fool America.
Untrue.
no not leftover but they can eat on their breaks
No way!! That is not only unsanitary, but its bad business. Employees in the food industry are required to get a real meal. If you know of a place that only lets their employees eat leftovers, you need to turn them into your local health inspector.
Some restraunts have rules. Waitor/waitresses are not allowed to eat the food in their restraurant(such as buffets) unless they paid for it. If your really poor and can olny supply your familiy with 2 and a half meals a day along with the factor that your manager is really generous then the waiters/waitresses can take leftovers home at the end of the day. My aunt worked in a restraunt and was allowed to take the foods that was leftover.

Why does the water or soda at some restaurants taste like plant or grass?
It's kind of weird actually. We eat out quite a bit and have noticed that the water and sodas at restaurants in certain areas have a planty or grassy taste to it. Sometimes it's so bad that we can't drink it. What causes this? Why does the water or soda at some restaurants taste like plant or grass?
most likely the fungi/algae which are chlorophyll rich,,, I know with beers certain places in town always have untasty funk on tap,, so I always avoid those places. Some have old systems that have piping that cant be cleaned properly, or they just have really slow business or they simply just too lazy tooo ever clean something right, including your glass %26amp; fork, yech!!
They need to clean the dispensers, there growing bacteria and algae, hence the taste. Why does the water or soda at some restaurants taste like plant or grass?
Vegan restaurant?
second that.also flourine, chlorine bleach cleaner ,and powdered chemical sanitizer

A white dipping sauce served in many restaurants with chips or hot flour tortillas for dipping. This is a basic recipe that uses 'Jack' for the TexMex version and Chihuahua and/or Asadero for the more traditional Mexican version.
1 cup cheese (Monterey jack, Asadero or
Chihuahua), shredded fine
4 ounces green chiles
1/4 cup half-and-half
2 tablespoons onion, chopped fine
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Serrano pepper, chopped fine (optional)
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped fine (optional)
Put all ingredients in a double boiler and heat on medium. Cook until melted and well blended, stirring occasionally.
Serve with fresh tostadas or hot flour tortillas.

Find two completely different restaurants in Beijing and focus on the food, but also the layout and design..architecture. Talk about the different locations in where they are within Beijing. If you could find the right information you could even look at the different uniform choices.
Just get a general profile of each restaurant.english to arabic seattle
